Enrolment Process

Risdon Park South Kindergarten is part of the Pirie and Environs cluster group. All preschools in Port Pirie have worked together and developed a Priority Placement Policy (see attached).

Please remember:
THIS ONLY COMES INTO PLACE IF DEMAND EXCEEDS CAPACITY.

This was developed to ensure parents still have the choice of where to send their child to kindy but to also ensure families who live close by, have first priority and can still access their closest preschool. It does not mean that just because you don’t live in the area you cannot come to your preferred kindy.

There is a timeline of when families need to have their waiting list form completed and submitted to the Preschool they intend to send their child to (1st Preference).

This waiting list form needs to be submitted by end of Week 1 Term 3 (last week in July) the year before they are due to start preschool and then the centre will contact you by Week 5 Term 3 (end of August) to confirm your placement. After this time staff will organise transition visits and a time to complete the detailed enrolment form.

Pre-entry:

Children will attend transition visits into kindy during Term 4 the year before they commence full-time kindergarten (30 hours per fortnight). The number of transition visits and the dates and times will be dependent on capacity available and when the current full-time kindy children transition to school.

Families will be informed when the visits will occur early September (after confirmations of enrolments have been made).

We encourage all families to bring their children along to playgroup regularly during the terms leading up to them beginning kindy, so they can become familiar with the environment and make their transition easier.
